Google’s August Algorithm Update & why traditional SEO is dying

Google confirmed a broad core update on their Algorithm on 1st August. What does this mean? Well, essentially your site’s SEO might be impacted (either positively or adversely) depending on how Google views your site.  Google’s Search Liaison Team tweeted the following:

“There’s no “fix” for pages that may perform less well other than to remain focused on building great content. Over time, it may be that your content may rise relative to other pages.”

In response to questions about what can people do if they have been negatively impacted, Danny Sullivan from Google replied with:

“I’m deeply aware people will want to fix things, if there’s a traffic change (and generally not share if they’re suddenly rewarded). I think it is useful to say there’s no specific thing happenings, so people don’t just start making random changes. They should think broadly…”

So it’s back to us harping on about Content (and context) being King.  Check out our SEO news post from Jan 2016 which still holds true today.
